As a nonprofit organization, donation drives are an invaluable resource for funding and collection towards your company’s vision. However, these can also be incredibly discouraging if they are not successful! Creating a program that is widespread, well organized, and with good content will help you reach your donation goals. The following tips are effective ways to develop the most successful drive possible.
Get the Word Out
Social media is one of the most efficient tools for spreading information and awareness; plus, the more platforms you utilize, the wider an audience you will reach. Certain platforms are more popular for certain demographics, which means you can tailor your messages to match these audiences or focus your efforts on one platform in particular that matches your intended audience. Encourage sharing of your posts, or create some sort of incentive like a raffle for sharing your information. Your goal should be to have as many people as possible view your posts—the wider the net, the bigger the catch!
Use Software to Stay Organized
Technology can do more for you than contribute to your marketing and advertising efforts. Utilize software that is built for organization of product or financial data. Point of Sale (POS) software can help your nonprofit organization manage donation inventory. This is an incredible tool for managing finances and customer data or tracking donation goals. Bookkeeping can be a difficult task that you do not want to mess up on—let software do that work for you (with a much tinier margin of error). There is a wide variety of POS systems with differing specialties, so find a program that fits your needs best.
Give Your Donors Good Content
Whether it be words, visuals, or a combination of the two, the quality of the content you produce for your audiences is a key area of concern. Furthermore, having a variety of styles of content—blogs, social media posts, articles, advertisements— will demonstrate your knowledge of your area and thereby foster a higher level of trust and confidence between you and your donors. Look at other successful advertising and media presences and mimic tools or strategies they use. Include your success and statistics in your content! One of the greatest ways to promote donating is to show your donors what their contributions have done. With that, don’t forget to praise and thank your donors for what they have done to help you (and consequently your cause).
Donation drives may be an intimidating project to take on but can be a huge win for your organization’s efforts, whatever they may be. Using these helpful hints can relieve that intimidation, and guide you towards the success you want.
