Canada is a beautiful country full of gorgeous landscapes, friendly people, and delicious food. However, Canada is also very diverse. It isn’t all waterfalls and frozen glaciers. There are sprawling cityscapes, gorgeous green mountains, and more. If you’re planning on visiting Canada, there are a few things you need to do first.
Make a Plan
Canada is huge. You can’t just say you’re going to Canada without a plan. What exactly do you want to see in Canada? Is nature more your thing, or do you want to stick to the cities and towns? These are some of the questions you need to answer before heading to Canada.
Furthermore, the weather in Canada is not like the weather in most of the United States. You need to decide what time of the year is best for what you hope to do when you’re there. Adventure Canada recommends making reservations and buying tickets to attractions in advance. Put a plan in place for calling home; not all cell service covers Canada for free.
Know What to Take
Once you’ve made your plan, you’d better know what to pack for your trip. You need to bring clothes appropriate for the time of year and the places you’ll be visiting. Bring enough cash and at least one back-up credit card in case of an emergency. Canada is beautiful, and you’ll want to take pictures, so be sure to bring a camera.
You also need to bring a first aid kit for your medical needs and any medications you’ll need. Packing these items is essential because you can’t just have them easily shipped to you from a friend. According to Need a US Address, an estimated 75% of Canadians live within 161 kilometers (100 miles) of the US border, but those 100 miles can cost Canadian customers hundreds of dollars in shipping costs, depending on the item.
Set a Budget
If you make your reservations and buy your tickets in advance, most of your high-priced items should be handled, but Mint suggests setting a budget for things like food, gifts, special items, and unexpected expenses. It is great to carry a back-up card in case of dire emergencies; however, in all other cases, you should stick to your budget so that you don’t come home in debt or otherwise hurting for cash.
Planning any vacation can be stressful, especially a vacation out of the country. However, if you simply make a plan, create a budget, and pack for the occasion, you can eliminate a lot of your worries. With a great plan in place, you can sit back and enjoy your trip.
