Skin Treatments That Will Take Years Off Your Appearance

Caring for your skin is already complicated. When it comes to deciding on the right products to use, what to include as part of your daily skincare routine, and how to address bigger problems with your skin, it can be overwhelming. Thinking about other options outside the box can help you meet some of the skincare goals you may currently be struggling to achieve.

Botox Injections

Botox injections can reduce wrinkles. Your face develops wrinkles when your facial muscles form certain expressions repeatedly over long amounts of time. When you are young, your skin springs back into its natural position and appears robust because of higher levels of collagen. But as you get older, your skin loses collagen and you start to see wrinkles.

These dynamic wrinkles typically form in areas like your forehead or around your eyes from smiling. When Botox is injected in your face, it stops the muscles from contracting as deeply and prevents wrinkles from further developing. Over time, it can cause the lines to stop returning.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is another way to improve your skin. It can be used to target sunspots, uneven pigmentation, fine lines, red and brown spots, spider veins, and hair removal. Laser therapy can be especially effective when it comes to improving your overall skin tone—doing this can go a long way in taking years off your face.

In addition to having aesthetic benefits, doing different forms of laser therapy can also affect any chronic pain you may feel. When laser therapy is applied, it can stimulate blood flow in damaged areas which can increase oxygen flow to areas that suffer from pain related to arthritis.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a form of therapy where a doctor injects a type of medicine into prominent veins, typically varicose veins, in order to reduce their appearance. This treatment can help reduce the effects of vein diseases that become more common, particularly as you get older.

In addition to both making your veins appear smaller and your skin younger overall, sclerotherapy can also be beneficial in treating certain conditions such as malformed lymph vessels and even hemorrhoids.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are another great way to treat wrinkles and lines in your face and other parts of your body. The way a chemical peel works is by removing the outer layer of your skin with a controlled chemical solution. There are varying degrees to this—light, medium, or strong. Depending on what you want to achieve with the chemical peel, you can decide on which option is the best for you.

The stronger peel you get, the deeper the chemicals will penetrate the layers of your skin. Sometimes, if you simply want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, getting lighter level peels consistently over time can be the best method.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an effective exfoliating technique that sucks impurities and dead skin cells. Typically, an aesthetician or dermatologist will use a diamond tip or crystal tip type of vacuum head to seemingly vacuum your skin. Having this treatment done with a diamond tip can be especially effective because the diamond tip enables the instrument to get into small crevices of your face like around your nose.

When compared to other treatments, microdermabrasion can be an especially beneficial option for those with particularly sensitive skin. If you have particularly sensitive skin, other treatments that are more invasive like chemical peels or microneedling may be too intense for your skin. Microdermabrasion on the other hand will likely not even leave you looking very red after the treatment.

Typically, in order to get the best results, it is ideal to get treatments every two weeks for a sustained period of time.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure where the dermatologist uses a dermaroller with tiny needles and rolls over your skin’s surface. As the dermaroller goes over your skin, it creates tiny wounds that prompt your skin to produce added collagen to repair them. As a result, your skin heals looking smoother and firmer. This treatment can be especially effective against wrinkles, lines, and scars.

Though microneedling is somewhat invasive because it involves needles, it actually tends to still be at treatment that requires minimum downtime. However, before deciding to go ahead with it, you should definitely check with your dermatologist beforehand because it can have negative effects if you are using certain topical acne medications. In order to achieve maximum results, you’ll likely have to do multiple sessions over several weeks. It tends to work most effectively with smaller blemishes and scarring on your face.

Having healthy clean skin is no easy task. Even with a pristine skincare routine and carefully selected skincare products, you still may suffer from unwanted blemishes or scarring. Investigating the options listed in this article can help you get a leg up on figuring out the best way forward towards glowing skin.
