Heavy Farm Equipment Every Farmer Should Invest In

Running and operating a farm is a difficult and labor-intensive profession that requires grit, determination, discipline, and fortitude. But farming successfully also requires something else in the modern world – heavy farm equipment. The idea of running a successful farm without the proper heavy equipment – even a small farm – is laughable to most farmers. The addition of a few key pieces of heavy farm equipment can cut down on your workload while simultaneously increasing your yields, allowing you to produce more with less labor. Here are three pieces of heavy farm equipment that every single farmer should invest in to maximize their farm.

Tractor

The first piece of heavy farm equipment that every farmer should invest in is a tractor. A tractor is just about the most versatile and important piece of farm equipment that you can own. In fact, a tractor is so necessary that the idea of running a farm without a tractor is nearly impossible to fathom. Tractors can provide machine power for pulling various pieces of farm equipment that can do tasks as varied as plowing and utilizing, to harvesting crops and even planting. Invest in a high quality, durable tractor that you can repair yourself and provide the power you need for your farm.

Manure Spreader

The next piece of heavy arm equipment that every farmer should invest in is a manure spreader. You can’t have a successful farm if you leave your manure out to rot in the sun all day, and don’t use it to properly fertilize your crops. As few as 10 cows can produce 30 pounds of manure on a daily basis. That is a lot of manure to leave out, rotting, stinking, and attracting flies and other vermin. A manure spreader will help to easily collect the manure and transport it to your composting area to compost into usable fertilizer for your farm.

A Pickup Truck

The final piece of heavy farm equipment that every farmer should invest in is a pickup truck. The pickup truck and the farm have been best friends since the invention of the pickup truck decades ago. A pickup truck is necessary for its ability to haul large amounts of equipment and supplies, from wood to feed, and even hitching a trailer with livestock. If you don’t have a pickup truck yet, then that should be your next investment as a farmer.

Running a farm is tough business. And it only gets tougher when you don’t have the proper machinery and heavy equipment to take care of the job. Make sure you invest in these three pieces of heavy machinery for your farm as soon as possible.
