3 Tips for Making Your Yard Kid-Friendly Before Selling

Most of the time, people buy homes to create space for a future or a growing family. Many buyers allow their children some agency during the house-hunting process, so it’s not a bad idea to keep a kid’s perspective in mind when you’re preparing your house to sell. This is especially true if you live in a family-friendly neighborhood that’s close to schools and parks. Here are a few tips to make your yard more kid-friendly so you can attract future buyers.

Add a Playset

According to Swing Kingdom, a great way to make your yard more kid-friendly while adding value to your home is by installing a permanent playset. A well-anchored, permanent playset looks much nicer than plastic ones, and it won’t tip over easily, which makes it a safer option as well. It will be hard for parents to say no to the absolute blast their kids will have on one of these. It’s also one less thing that the parents will have to do after they move in.

Add Some Artificial Turf

Laying artificial turf in the play area is not only a great selling point, but it’s also very safe for children and easy for parents. According to Celebrity Greens, the padded synthetic turf makes for the perfect playground surface while dramatically reducing the need for yard maintenance and eliminates the need for water as well as the harmful yard chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, weed kill, etc) that you won’t want your kids around. In addition, no one will have to worry about a muddy mess after a rainy day ruining backyard fun.

Add Fencing

Fencing is more of a benefit for parents because we all want to prevent our little ones from wandering out of the yard. House hunting families will definitely be looking for fencing if they have small children, so it’s one of the best investments you can make. The best part is: fencing can be kid-friendly too, according to Homedit. With a little creativity, you can turn a fence into a wonderland of games and art activities. Hanging up a large chalkboard for drawing or a few pans to make music are just a couple of neat ideas that you can use to help your buyers, and especially their kids, visualize the endless potential for fun with just a fence.

While these aren’t the cheapest investments, your return on investment will be well worth it. They could provide the extra push to a potential buyer to convince them to buy your house. You’ll get very far when you think like a kid as you make your yard more kid-friendly.
