Donald Trump May Pick Marco Rubio to be VP

Marco Rubio may be warming up to Donald Trump as his chances of becoming his VP pick increase. As Trump gets closer to winning the nomination, republicans are taking notice and starting to play nice with the New York real estate tycoon.

While some might continue to be outraged at the possibility of Donald Trump leading the nation, others wonder if adding Rubio to the ticket might sway some die hard Trump haters.

The Tampa Bay Times reported,

Last Sunday on Univision Rubio said it appeared Trump will lock down the nomination.
“If he keeps winning delegates like he did the other night in New York, I think he’s going to reach that number,” Rubio said on Al Punto Florida. “But let’s see. There are still other states to go.”

And Rubio, who continues to hold onto more than 100 delegates, has warned against a contested convention (though he disagreed with Trump about the system being “rigged.”)

“I do think it’s valid to argue to delegates: ‘Look, let’s not divide the party. You have someone here who has all these votes, very close to get 1,237, let’s not ignore the will of the people or they’re going to be angry.’ And delegates may decide that on that reason they decide to vote for Donald Trump. But if they don’t, it’s not illegitimate in any way,” he told Miami radio host Jimmy Cefalo on April 20.

“I’ve always said I’m going to support the Republican nominee, and that’s especially true now that it’s apparent that Hillary Clinton is going to be the Democratic candidate,” Rubio said. “My differences with Donald Trump are well documented … .”

Sen. Rubio would make an excellent Vice President.  He has more political and foreign policy experience than Trump. If Donald Trump picks Marco Rubio for VP, it would help him win hispanic voters and make a strong ticket against Hillary Clinton. The Florida senator was the best candidate running on the GOP ticket and was rejected by voters as a result of attacks by Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush. Their campaigns sought to knock out their toughest opponent and only helped further Trump’s momentum.

Trump has stated that he would consider Rubio as his running mate. In the meantime, Marco Rubio has wisely chosen to not endorsed Ted Cruz.

If Donald Trump wins the Indiana primary, Cruz will have little to no chance of arguing for a contested convention. A Trump / Rubio ticket might just be enough to win against Hillary Clinton in the fall.

Trump Wins Indiana and Cruz Drops Out

Now that Donald Trump is the presumptive nominee, it is time for him to seriously consider Marco Rubio to be his running mate. The idea of a contested convention is over and adding Rubio as his Vice President in the general election would be his best move to unify the Republican Party.
