How to Start Your Day with More Energy

How you start your day can have a big impact on your energy levels. Having more energy helps you feel positive, allows you to accomplish more, and helps your body function better. If you struggle to feel energy first thing in the morning, there are things you can do to help!

Eat Breakfast

While there are some debates on whether breakfast is the most important meal of the day, eating breakfast can help you start your day with more energy. During the night, your body utilizes your energy stores since you aren’t eating. Eating breakfast, especially one that includes both carbs and protein, is a great way to help replace those energy stores which will help you have lasting energy throughout the day. Another benefit to eating breakfast is optimal brain function, because your brain needs fuel to do its work.

Get Better Sleep

Sleep quality is an important way to have more energy. If you are getting enough sleep and looking to increase quality, you can start by improving your sleep hygiene. This means having a routine before bed and turning off electronics. You can also make sure that you have a good mattress. An uncomfortable mattress can make it hard for you to sleep well as it can put pressure on your body and make you restless. There are many different mattresses to choose from, and some have additional benefits other than just sleep quality. For example, air mattresses can prevent bedsores by shifting pressure points on the body.

Exercise

Exercise can help you have more energy. When you exercise, your body increases production of neurotransmitters which help improve your mood and be more alert. These neurotransmitters are serotonin, endorphins, and dopamine. Regular exercise can also help you sleep better, which will then help you have more energy. Exercising in the morning is a great way to start the day and get those endorphins. Exercising later in the day, especially close to bedtime, can negatively impact your sleep which will decrease your energy levels.

Having more energy may take some time, but it all starts with small changes. Eating breakfast, getting better sleep, and exercise are just a few of the many options of changes you can make to start your day with more energy. It might take some extra effort at first, but eventually adding these things to your morning routine will become second nature!
