Emergency Preparedness, Food Storage, and Gun sales may surge under Trump Presidency

Emergency preparedness sales could grow under a Trump presidency

Food storage, emergency preparedness products and guns sales surged when Obama was elected president. Right wing conservatives were worried that an Obama administration would weaken their 2nd amendment rights and stockpiled guns and ammunition along with food storage supplies. Trust in the government ran into an all time low as people scrambled to become self sufficient in case the worst could happen. Now faced with the potential of a Donald Trump republican administration, it may be Democrats changing their tune and buying up emergency preparedness and food storage supplies in case Trump gets the nuclear launch codes. Liberals can move to Canada or learn to live off the grid.

Emergency preparedness and food storage industry growth

In 2012 the prepping industry saw a huge boom in sales. Mayan predictions of the world’s end spawned disaster movies, zombie apocalypse tales and a run on .22 ammunition. Emergency preparedness companies like Emergency Essentials and Mountain Home foods saw record sales as people filled their garages and storage rooms with years worth of food. Discovery and National Geographic jumped on the bandwagon and launched TV shows about doomsday preppers and underground bunker builders. This was the start of a wave the continues today. The prepping industry is worth billions and continues to grow.

Donald Trump is the frontrunner for the GOP Presidential nomination. This has liberals terrified. Cries of racism, bigotry and political incorrectness fill the airwaves as the left wing media outlets scramble for negative messages against Trump. This hysteria may lead to a unprecedented rise in sales of emergency preparedness stockpiling from an unlikely source: democrats. The party of big government may finally break its trust in Washington’s handouts and finally decide it is time to become more self sufficient.

Solar, wind and organic food storage growth

Green products and energy efficiency has always been a staple of the party of the left. These products and technologies may see a large spike as more people who fear a Trump administration buy up solar panels, wind turbines and expand their organic gardens. Seed stockpiling for organic vegetables and non GMO crops may become even more popular as a way to supplement food storage. Companies like Tesla may sell more electric cars and home battery packs for people fearful of gas shortages. We may even start to see electric trucks and SUV enter the market.

Gun Sales outlook under Trump

Gun sales were at historic high levels during the Obama administration. Fear of executive action against gun ownership created panic buying in the market as AR-15 rifles and handguns flew off the shelves. To this day is still difficult to find .22 ammunition that is not marked up 100-200%. Americans who identify as liberals are often averse to gun ownership. Donald Trump has announced his love of the 2nd amendment and this may actually lower the fear buying frenzy of the last seven years. Gun owners may find relief as the price of ammunition drops and gun availability grows. Each day another state moves its softening of concealed weapons laws legislation forward, bolstered by a populist conservative resurgence.

We don’t know who will win the 2016 presidential elections. Regardless of who wins, with continued distrust in the government, the emergency preparedness industry will continue to grow.
