Things just keep getting worse for Yahoo.
Yahoo, the iconic internet company was just listed for sale on Craigslist. We heard things were bad, just not Craigslist bad. Yahoo’s short-term outlook is bleak, and it is currently soliciting offers from potential buyers.
As people grew out of their @yahoo.com email addresses and got a gmail email account, Yahoo slowly bled users. The former homepage for most of the internet has faded into a cesspool of endless paid content.
With vultures circling the doomed company, a enterprising agent listed the company in a hilarious Craigslist ad. The ad of course is fake, as Marissa Mayer would never approve of selling the company she leads on the only site with worse design on the internet. Maybe when Yahoo finally sells, they will post a Craigslist garage sale ad for all the stuff they will have to sell to become more profitable.
Mashable reports that for one, the ad lists the embattled Internet giant for $8 billion OBO (or best offer) — a figure that has been widely reported to be at the top of the range of what the company could fetch on the open market.
“A rare find, this one-of-a-kind Internet original is now available to the public for a limited time,” the ad reads.
“A beautiful piece in good-to-fair condition, showing some signs of wear but easily restored in the hands of the right person. Sadly, the original owners can no longer maintain it.”
To add insult to injury, the sale of Yahoo was listed under the antiques section. The Craigslist ad details really sell the idea of owning this internet dinosaur:
- 1 billion users, more or less
- Web email system (now 62% spam free!)
- Bottomless archive of Kim Kardashian photos
- Flickr & Tumblr
- Fully equipped Nautilus gym
- A really nice cafeteria
- The Yahoo Weather app
- Several warehouses filled with Kind bars
- Katie Couric
Hopefully whoever ends up buying Yahoo will end up finding a way to turn the company around. The world does not need another website with endless Kardashian selfies.
