8 Holistic Health Remedies for High Blood Pressure Examined

There are an estimated 1.2 billion people worldwide who are afflicted with high blood pressure. It has been estimated that high blood pressure has accounted for some 7.5 million deaths. How do we stop the negative effects of high blood pressure in its tracks? What are some things we can do to take our health back? These statistics definitely can seem a bit daunting but will take heart and determination to overcome. There are many natural remedies you can utilize in order to keep your high blood pressure under control. Here are just eight of the many holistic health remedies you should try for your high blood pressure.

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate has been proven by a number of studies to lower the incidence of high blood pressure and hypertension. Most notably, it’s helped the health of individuals ages 55 and older. Dark chocolate contains compounds called flavanols, which cause your blood vessels to dilate, thus helping to lower high blood pressure. Flavanols in dark chocolate also help your body to maintain healthy levels of nitric oxide, which supports healthy blood flow in your body. The type of dark chocolate that is most effective for lower blood pressure is the variety that contains the lowest amount of sugar and just the right amount of cacao. A good rule of thumb to go by is to find dark chocolate that has 60 to 70 percent cacao and just a smidgen of sugar for flavoring.

Garlic

Garlic has been found to help cut down high pressure, especially in patients that have increased systolic pressure. The garlic can also fortify the body with an increase in the level of antioxidant vitamins C and E. Not only does garlic provide decreased blood pressure, but it also has been great for a reduction in 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine, lower levels of nitric oxide and a significant decrease in the lipid peroxidation process. Garlic is very good at protecting your cardiovascular system, so it’s a good element to include in your holistic high blood pressure medical plan.

Celery

According to at least a couple of Chinese studies, one of the main reasons why celery is effective at reducing high blood pressure is that it reacts well with the liver. In a study in mainland China, fourteen out of sixteen patients who used celery saw positive results. Moreover, there is evidence that celery is effective in reducing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Additionally, if your high blood pressure causes you to have dizziness, headaches, or shoulder pain, you can mix your celery juice with vinegar in order to alleviate these symptoms.

Green Tea

Green tea has definitely developed a solid track record in reducing the chances of developing high blood pressure. Many of the recent studies have demonstrated that tea does not have any effect on blood pressure in the short term, but those who enjoy green tea over time have reduced blood pressure. It has scientifically been proven that over time, drinking green tea can decrease both your diastolic and systolic blood pressure levels.

CBD

CBD has been used often for things like Parkinson’s Disease and depression, but it can also be used to lower blood pressure. While there are many ways to take CBD, most of them have the same effect. A recent study where ten male participants were given 600 mg of CBD oil showed that their resting blood pressure rate was significantly reduced from their normal levels. Later, these same men were given stress tests and CBD was able to significantly improve their results. CBD has become a very popular holistic treatment in recent years because it contains a number of stress-reducing properties that seem to help men conquer anxiety and reduce the risk of having strokes and heart attacks.

Carrots

Drinking carrot juice is a great way to get your antioxidants. However, another reason this rabbit food is also great for you is that it can keep high blood pressure at bay by being packed with vitamin C and beta carotene. Vitamin C has the ability to act as a diuretic, keeping excess fluid away from your body. Beta Carotene has also been proven to reduce hypertension. A Netherlands study of several men over a number of years showed that their high blood pressure was reduced by up to 11 percent when they had higher beta carotene intake.

Pink Grapefruit

You will do a total 180 on your high blood pressure often by eating a regular diet of pink grapefruit. This type of grapefruit not only has a solid quantity of Vitamin C, but it also has the blood pressure-lowering compound called lycopene. A Finnish study demonstrated that a set of individuals who had a high concentration of lycopene in their bloodstream had a 55 percent reduction in their chances of having a stroke. Either way, pink grapefruit definitely has your back and is worth adding more often to your daily breakfast or snack routine.

Flaxseed

Do you like having smoothies in the morning? If so, why not stir some flaxseed into it? Flaxseed can be grounded into a powder and used as a batter or as a topping on things like yogurt and macaroni and cheese. In addition to being tasty, flaxseed has tons of health benefits. Flaxseed has many inflammation-reducing properties and includes a lot of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. These components can improve the functioning of your heart and can give your circulation a tremendous boost as well. This not only can lower your risk of hypertension, but can also help you reduce some of the negative effects of conditions like diabetes.

Because high blood pressure can be hard to detect on your own, it’s important to get your blood pressure checked regularly. You could have high blood pressure for years and not even know it. Of course, you can take doctor-prescribed medications for this condition, but those can have costly side effects. These natural alternatives can be every bit as good as those medications and will contribute to your overall health and well-being on a major scale.
